Sara is a dance and movement artist who holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from the University of Utah (2015) and a Bachelor’s of Science in Dance from the University of Oregon (2009). Additionally, she is a certified yoga instructor, and currently pursuing her GYROTONIC apprenticeship.
Sara is inspired by the power of breath and dynamic movement to bring one into the present moment. Her yoga practice has been deeply influenced by her journey as a modern dancer, and is informed by multiple somatic practices and movement modalities through which she has been exposed over the course of her dance career. Sara has discovered a symbiotic relationship between her dancing and yoga practice, lending to her creative research as a dance artist. While her dance background plays an integral role in the flow of her yoga classes, she believes that movement is for everyone! She is immensely grateful for her teachers Jennifer Ellen Mueller, Scott Moore, Yoshi Maezumi, and Jean Nelson in their influence on her early years of practice.
Sara believes that embodiment practices are crucial for personal and communal revolution and her aim is to create positive change through her teaching practice.
