Emily Oliva

Emily began practicing yoga in 2000 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has been teaching since 2010. A lifelong athlete, she first looked to yoga as a physical practice but over the years discovered the benefits extended to her total wellness. Her education in kinesiology from the University of Michigan has fostered a deep appreciation for anatomy and physiology. Emily’s goal as a teacher is to encourage personal awareness and inner peace to students through a dedicated and challenging practice. She studies under Julie Lawrence and Tonya Garreaud and is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.

Emily volunteers as a teacher for the non-profit Living Yoga, whose mission is to teach yoga as a tool for personal change to people who would otherwise not have access to it. She has also served as a board member of YWCA Clark County for 6 years. In her free time she enjoys creating on her antique cast iron letterpress with its thousands of tiny letters to arrange by hand; truly a meditative act. Emily also loves running and tagging along with her two young children to explore the world.
