Allison joyfully began her yoga practice in 2000 after years as a professional ballet dancer, training initially at Oregon Ballet Theatre and then later at School of American Ballet in New York City. On a trip home to Portland, she took her first vinyasa class and was immediately struck by yoga’s ability to connect mind, breath and movement. At the time, Allison was dancing and an undergraduate at Harvard University and found her new yoga practice to be an increasingly healing and settling influence amidst a relatively pressured environment.
She later deepened her yoga practice while living in London and trained at the Power Yoga Company, Indaba, the Life Centre and Triyoga. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training through the Power Yoga Company in London under the experienced tutelage of Erin Prichard, Pete Cherry, and Becky Farbstein.
Allison recently returned to Portland and teaches a strong and invigorating vinyasa class with particular emphasis on breathing and the mind / body connection. She strives to make her classes interesting and accessible to all levels of yoga practitioners, strongly believing that yoga should be for everyone.
