FRIDAY, Feb 17, 6:15-8:30pm, $60
THE HIP JOINT ELIXIR: The name for the hip socket in Greek is acetabulum, which means “wine cup”. This session will be an immersion in ways to generate fluidity in the hips through both mobilization and stabilization techniques. We will review the strong musculature and ligaments that hold the hip into place anatomically and cover sciatic pain and sacro-iliac dysfunction.
SATURDAY, Feb 18, 10:00–12:30pm, $65
EVERY POSE IS A MOUNTAIN: Tadasana—the mountain pose—is the foundation for all poses in yoga. In this class the emphasis is on embodying the mountain within each pose in order to achieve stability, ease and spaciousness. We’ll experience the mountain in the feet, the pelvis, spine and skull, and explore mountain as metaphor.
SATURDAY, Feb 18, 2:00–4:30pm, $65
ANATOMY OF BREATHING: In this course, we’ll detail the key structures involved in breathing and practice sequences that open the chest cavity. By combining breath with movement (vinyasa) and through passive chest openers we’ll release the diaphragm to prepare for both soft meditative breathing and active pranayama.
SUNDAY, Feb 19, 10:00–12:30pm, $65
THE ARCHER’S BOW: The classic image in spiritual training is that of the archer, taking aim and with concentration and ease striking the target of realization. This class will investigate how each pose is like a bow pose with tension set—not too taut and not too slack—in order to open the spine.
SUNDAY, Feb 19, 1:00-3:00pm, $60
THE ART OF SAVASANA: Savasana requires profound letting go of one’s body and mind. It is the most essential to remain relaxed within during savasana. It would seem it is simply about lying down on the floor, yet in order to effectively let go, much preparation is needed. We emphasize release within the joints (especially around the spine), dropping the bones, softening the breath and emptying the mind.
