Meghan Bowen

Meghan’s love of yoga comes from her attraction to traditions which celebrate the intelligence of the body, the extraordinary power of the breath and the mystery of existence. Balancing fluidity of movement with alignment and form, Meghan’s classes are dynamic, creative, nurturing and intuitive.

As a result of her journey, Meghan is gifted at guiding other students to become more tuned into the wisdom of their bodies and to trust the magnificent unfolding of life, both on and off the mat. Shakti Flow, Meghan’s unique style of Vinyasa Flow, is a dynamic system of yoga that utilizes breath as the foundation, and subsequently layers on intelligent sequencing, principles of energetics (nadis, chakras, koshas, mudra, and the five elements), and sahaja yoga (moment-to-moment unfolding of asana and movement).

Meghan’s eclectic style of teaching is influenced by her studies of various traditions and movement practices, including: Prana Flow Yoga with Shiva Rea, Prajna Yoga with Tias Little, Ayurveda with James Bailey, Continuum Movement with Emilie Conrad, 5 Rhythms with Gabrielle Roth and The Moving Center School, Acupressure and Shiatsu at the Acupressure Institute, Kashmir Shaivism and Tantra as taught by Lorin Roche and Paul Mueller-Ortega and and the meditations and teachings of Osho. Meghan is happy to make Portland her new home after years of teaching private sessions, classes, retreats, and teachers trainings in Northern California where she also volunteered in the public school system teaching yoga to grades 1-12.

Also holistic personal trainer with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, Meghan brings a keen understanding of the body’s inner workings to her teaching and training. In addition to teaching group classes, Meghan also offers private and semi-private lessons. More information about Meghan’s teaching style can be found at meghanbowen.com.
