“What I love about teaching is awakening the natural, instinctual teacher in you. If you can sense the integration of body, mind and spirit on the mat, you are practicing yoga. It’s that simple. I love a strong, playful, explorative practice that challenges me, turns things on end at times, and encourages me to see my self and my life from a new and more ‘juicy’ perspective. Yoga gently, yet powerfully, reminds me who I am… and helps me let go of what I am not. That is what I love most about yoga.”
Britt’s initial exposure to yoga came in her early twenties as she sought to deepen her understanding of fitness and to self-heal. Her work includes teaching yoga classes, workshops, retreats, and an integrated practice of classical hatha, vinyasa, yoga therapy, and ayurveda. Britt believes and teaches that the work we do while we are on the mat, within and without, translates to our work on the planet.
Britt has worked in the mind/body health care field for more than 20 years. Her BS in Exercise Physiology and Masters Degree in Health Education provide her with an academic background to incorporate alignment and physiology into her teaching. Throughout her career, Britt has taught at the university level, conducted mind/body oncology research, directed wellness programs, and studied in India and Indonesia with some of the brightest lights in yoga and Ayurveda. Britt weaves her experience in academia, allopathic medicine, and Western perspective with the rich and ancient history of yoga and Ayurveda to teach classes, workshops, and retreats accessible to all.
