Jennifer Mikel

Jenn1For Jennifer Mikel, coming to her yoga practice is like coming home. She believes that through daily, consistent dedication yoga helps us to see and to know ourselves in the most intimate way. Jennifer is passionate about the interrelationship between anatomy and alignment and how we can use these as tools to create space from the inside out. Through teaching Ashtanga and assisting her teacher Jason Stein in Mysore classes, Jennifer has developed a deep love for the art of adjusting and supporting students in their unique and individual practices. By giving each student cues tailored to their needs and hands on modifications, Jennifer hopes to inspire her students to make their practice their own. As a teacher, Jennifer seeks to encourage confidence in her students and a love for yoga both on and off the mat. She believes that yoga really happens when it ceases to be a class or a place but rather an awareness and a state of mind.  Jennifer fell in love with yoga while attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA  in 2001. Over the years she has immersed herself in a variety of styles including Hatha, Yin, Anusara and Power Vinyasa until finally finding a home in Ashtanga Yoga. When she is not practicing or teaching, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her 3 boys and her dog Mae.
