All of our classes and teachers encourage you to choose the practice that best suits your personal needs. We offer several classes geared specifically to beginning and returning yoga students. Yoga Pearl FAQ’s
It’s my first time. What do I do?
Welcome! We’re so glad to have you! We suggest arriving 10-15 minutes before class so you can fill out our waiver, get acquainted with the space and nestle in before your first class.
Do I need to reserve a spot for class?
It depends on which class. There are two studios at Yoga Pearl. Studio 1 can fit 60 students so reservations are unnecessary. However, Studio 2 only accommodates 14 students so if you’re attending a Gentle Hatha, Hatha 2, or Yin class, signing up online beforehand or arriving 10 minutes early is ideal.
Do you rent mats?
Clean rental mats are available free of charge for all students. We also sell a variety of mats in our boutique.
Does Yoga Pearl have lockers?
Yes! Lockers are provided in the restroom for your security. Bring your own lock or rent one from the studio for $1.
Does Yoga Pearl have showers?
We sure do! No need to go back into the world smelling like yoga. Bring your own towel or rent one from us for $1.
Any suggestions on where to park?
We are conveniently located in downtown Portland, a short walk from the Old Town MAX stations or the Pearl streetcar stops. Paid street parking begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday-Saturday and at 1:00 p.m. on Sundays and is located all around the studio, but can be more or less hard to find depending on the day. It’s always wise to leave extra time to find street parking. We’re also only a few blocks from two parking garages on 12th between Couch and Everett.
Should I eat before class?
It’s always wise to practice yoga on a fairly empty stomach (twists, quick flows and going upside down never feel great after a big meal). But, we believe in well nourished yogis, so if your blood sugar is low try one of Prasad’s many delicious smoothies or juices.
A few other notes:
We are honored to offer a meeting space for friends and fellow yogis. We appreciate it if everyone uses low voices through our the studio in respect for the other healing work being practiced in the wellness center. Please be sure your cell phone is silenced if you bring it to the studio.
